BAE Systems and Hanwha Systems to Collaborate on Multi-Sensor Satellite System

BAE Systems and Hanwha Systems have signed a new MoU to develop a multi-sensor satellite system to collect radio frequency (RF) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data.

Announcing the MoU on Tuesday, the companies said the system would be marketed to international markets and combine BAE Systems’ ultra-wide band RF sensors and Hanwha Systems’ SAR expertise into an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capability. The release said that on-board edge processors will process data collected to deliver insights and intelligence.

Sung-Chan Song, head of the Space Division for Hanwha Systems, commented in a release this will help Hanwha “further expand our presence in the global satellite market.”
